From Precision Workshop to National Asset

Established in 2008 in the industrial hub of Mira Bhayandar, Thane, T.A. Engineering was born from a vision to serve the nation by building indigenous defence capabilities. We began as a high-precision workshop, mastering the complexities of manufacturing critical components for India's defence establishments.

Our reputation for quality and reliability led to deeper partnerships with PSU and private sector defence companies. We evolved, expanding our scope from individual parts to the assembly of complex sub-systems, and ultimately, to the full-scale integration of strategic platforms. This journey has seen us contribute to cornerstone projects like the **PINAKA** launchers, **Akash** air defence systems, and critical naval assets like **Steering Gears** and **Torpedo Tubes**.

From our headquarters in the Thane-Mira Bhayandar metropolitan region, we began as a specialized workshop focused on high-precision component manufacturing.

Our maintenance philosophy is a structured, three-tiered approach designed to maximize equipment availability, ensure operational safety, and optimize the total cost of ownership over an asset's lifecycle.

1. Preventive Maintenance (PM): A Proactive Approach to Reliability

Preventive Maintenance consists of scheduled activities performed to prevent equipment failures and mitigate the degradation of components. The primary goal is to address potential issues before they lead to unexpected downtime.

Objectives:
  • Maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Extend the operational lifespan of assets.
  • Ensure consistent performance and safety standards.
  • Minimize the frequency of costly, unscheduled repairs.
Scope of Activities:
  • Routine Servicing: Systematic lubrication (oiling, greasing) and fluid level checks.
  • Scheduled Component Replacement: Timely replacement of consumables and wear-and-tear parts.
  • Inspection & Conditioning: Regular inspection, cleaning, rust removal, and application of protective finishes.

2. Corrective Maintenance (Repair): A Reactive Response to Failure

Corrective Maintenance, also known as Breakdown Maintenance, includes all unscheduled actions performed to restore a failed asset to its operational state. This tier is activated when equipment stops functioning unexpectedly.

Workflow:
  • Fault Diagnosis: Upon system failure, trained on-site personnel perform systematic checks as per the maintenance manual to identify the faulty sub-system.
  • On-Site Resolution: The immediate response is limited to repairs that can be performed efficiently on-site, typically involving the replacement of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) or minor component adjustments.
  • Expert Escalation: For complex or undiagnosed faults, on-site teams will escalate the issue to system experts at the OEM facility for remote supervision and guidance.

3. Major Overhaul: Restoring Assets to Original Specifications

An overhaul is a comprehensive, planned maintenance event designed to completely restore an asset to its original performance and reliability standards. It is the most intensive form of maintenance, essentially returning the equipment to a "zero-hour" condition.

Execution:
  • Timing: Overhauls are scheduled based on the calculated end-of-life for major mechanical, electrical, or electronic sub-systems.
  • Location: Due to the complexity, overhauls are exclusively performed in a controlled workshop environment (OEM's works or certified facility) equipped with specialized machinery like overhead cranes, welding stations, and industrial painting booths.
